Funnies

Here are a few funnies from the last few months:

• Even though Kasidee is 9, she still likes to sleep in our bed every once in awhile.  One night while Quentin was getting ready for bed, she asked me, "Can I just lay in your bed with you and look at the ceiling?"
• Makenna:  "Oh that car is so cute!  It's kind of an orange-y red.  Wait - it's orange.  With red."
• One day while preparing to go somewhere for most of the day, Kasidee put snacks, water, gum and Kleenexs in a bag.  She called it her "Life Prepared Bag."
• Kasidee told me, "I've been reminding you every day since yesterday."
• Kiera had a dream near Christmastime that she was on "Santa's Elite Squad."
• While listening to Christmas songs, Kasidee asked, "Wait - is it figgy pudding or piggy pudding?"  We couldn't convince her that it's really figgy pudding!
• Kasidee, stuffing tissue paper in a bag for a small birthday gift:  "I didn't realize how big this bag was.  That's okay - I'll just tell him not to get excited."
• A couple of weeks before Christmas, Kasidee saw a text on my iPad regarding a bike.  She was afraid she did something wrong by accidentally looking at my text, but I assured her that we knew she wanted a bike for Christmas but have had a hard time finding one.  She said, "Oh Mommy, that's okay.  Please don't worry about it.  I'll just ask Santa."
• Makenna found out that Kasidee's friend got a brand-new iPhone.  Makenna said to me, "Why would anyone give their 9-year-old a phone?  There's no need, except for a-holding people."
• One evening before Quentin's birthday, we decided to run to the dollar store to secretly get some small gifts for him.  Makenna had fallen asleep on the couch.  When I roused her and asked if she wanted to go with us, she said no.  So the rest of us went and Kiera and Kasidee helped pick out something they thought Quentin would like that Makenna could give him.   When he opened it on his birthday, she explained, "It's boring.  I'm sorry.  But I was asleep when I got it."
• Now here's a funny thing Quentin said!  He was talking about his big theater screen.  He said, "It's 106 inches.  When I was going to buy it I thought, 'Wow...I can't pass that up!  It's 3 digits of inches!'"

He He

• Kasidee spotted some rain boots at a store when we were in Oregon.  She looked at them funny then said, "Nobody wears these things.  If it's raining, you just don't go outside!"

• Kasidee calls someone's behind their "Batootchka."

Ha!

During our trip to Oregon, we went through some canyon-type areas with lots of elevation changes. At one point, Makenna said, "I think I need to yawn my ears!"

Ha

Kasidee wore a pair of light khaki pants during our recent camping trip.  She rode 4-wheelers and her pants got pretty dirty.  After a couple of washings, the pants still didn't look very good.  She said, "Well, they were going to grow out of me someday anyway!"

Funnies

• The other day, Makenna and Kasidee were having a debate about the name of "Chuck A Rama."  Kasidee told Makenna it is "Chuck A Rama. . . . .It's like chuck a grandma."  But Makenna insisted it is called "Chick A Rama. . . . It's like a chick doing the rama."
• Makenna was invited to attend Girls Camp this year, though she was 2 months shy of being 12.  I was excited and nervous for her, but grateful that she would be with Kiera and that Quentin would also be there for 2 of the 5 days.  When she got home, she said she had so much fun.  She said, "I was only homesick, like, the last 5 days...."
• Kasidee was sick with a high fever and sore throat.  For nearly 2 days all she wanted were drinks.  The third day, she said somewhat triumphantly, "I feel so much better!  I think my taste buds are coming back!"

He He!

• Even though it's June, I caught Kasidee singing a Christmas song....  "Grab yourself a merry little Christmas."  I thought she was trying to be funny so I asked her about it and she genuinely thought those were the words to the song!
• Makenna came home from a camp certification activity and told me she learned how to do the Heimlich Remover.

Ha ha!

• Kasidee - "I'm so glad I won the paper airplane contest, because I've never felt the winning spirit before!"
• Makenna was working on a report for school, and I noticed she had put 2 spaces in between each word.  I asked her why, and she said totally seriously, "My teacher said it needed to be double-spaced...."
• Makenna asked if I had hot rollers I could try in her hair.  I told her I still had some that I used when I was a kid.  She said, "Aren't those old fashioned?  Will they turn my hair into Mrs. Goldberg's?"
• After Kiera and Makenna returned home from a Camp Certification activity, they were explaining what they learned.  All of a sudden Kasidee said seriously, "Oh my gosh, you sound so sustifficated!"
• Makenna - "I can't believe I got a 94% on my test - I didn't even study!  I just wung it!"

Ha

• Kasidee got up one morning and noticed her sheets weren't very tousled.  She said, "I guess I was actually a good night's sleeper last night!"
• Kasidee's glasses broke in one place, and Quentin was able to fix it temporarily by melting perler beads (we call them melty beads).  Kasidee said, "I can tell all my friends that my dad melty-beaded them!"

Hee Hee!

• Kasidee got a new apron for Christmas, one she was begging for about a month before Christmas.  She put it on and realized it was an adult size, so it was pretty long on her.  She said, "It's okay.  I can still wear this when I'm an old maid!"
• Kasidee was admiring a pillowcase that her Primary teacher had embroidered for her.  She said, "I can't believe Sister Weaver sewed this...I mean, sued it?"

More Ha Ha's!

• My mom made ambrosia salad for part of our Christmas Eve dinner this year.  Makenna really enjoyed it and asked if she could have more "amnesia salad."
• Makenna overheard Quentin mentioning that in some stakes men in presidency positions can have a beard.  Makenna misheard him and exclaimed with wide eyes, "Wait - in some stakes you can have a beer?"
• The day after Christmas, Makenna asked if we were going to go anywhere.  I said, "Well, not really - maybe Target or something."  She said, "Yes!  I want to show off my new Converse."  I told her that we wouldn't be seeing anyone there that we know.  She said, "That's okay.  I just want to show them off to random strangers."

Ha ha!

• The day after Thanksgiving, we pulled out all the leftovers and had another big meal.  After we were done and began cleaning up, Makenna said, "Thank you!  This meal was atrocious...wait, what does that mean?"
• Kasidee came home from school one day, so excited to tell me about what she had learned in her SEM class.  She said, "We learned all about brittle!"  (Braille)
• The girls were playing a guessing game with Christmas songs.  One would shake a bell to the tune of a song and the other girls had to guess which song it was.  Makenna did, "Up on the Housetop."  Kasidee excitedly exclaimed, "Oh I know this one!  It's 'Raintop Tra La La's!'"

Even More Funnies

• We were watching "Alone" one day and the survivor men woke up to find frost everywhere, even on their sleeping bags.  Kasidee exclaimed, "Oh no!  It's frosting!"
• The night before Kasidee's 8th birthday, she asked what time she was born.  I told her around 12:30 in the afternoon.  When woke up the next day, on her birthday, she asked, "Wait, what time is it?  I might have already been born!" 
• Kasidee began closing the garage door but then we realized we should take Wink for a walk so she said, "Should I undo the garage door?"
• Makenna was excitedly telling me a story and I chuckled when she began a sentence with, "Me and somepeople else...."
• One lazy Sunday afternoon, I was so tired and I asked Kasidee if she would like to take a nap with me.  She said, "I'd like to, but I have to get my energy out first...."
• Makenna knows how much I love my hair to be played with or brushed.  One day she suggested, "Do you want to play beauty parlor, and I'll be the parlor?"
• Kiera has been wanting to learn how to cook more things.  I was teaching her how to do pasta, which I thought she already knew how to do.  The package said to boil the pasta for 9 to 11 minutes.  But since Kiera only added 3/4 of the package, she thought she only had to boil it for about 7 minutes (3/4 the time)....

Funnies

• Kiera is a huge reader.  She reads every chance she can get.  She was worried once that she is addicted to reading.  One day she said, "Oh this book is so good!  It's un-put-down-able!"
• Kiera has been worried about how picky she is.  She watches her sisters, who enjoy many foods, and I think she feels guilty for not being excited about trying new things.  One night before dinner, she was lamenting about how she should try new things but it's scary.  Makenna gave the prayer on the food and said very seriously, "Please help Kiera to get the vegetation she needs...."
• One night we made french fries and tater tots to go with our dinner (yum!)  The next morning, the girls wanted to set up a spa and play.  Makenna went downstairs and said, "Ew - what is that smell?"  I told her it was the grease smell from the fries we made the night before.  She said, "Hmm...well, that won't be good for business!"
• We set up the trampoline and Makenna was studying the metal poles.  She asked, "Is lightning addicted to trampolines?"
• I made Makenna some garlic mashed potatoes, which she loves.  I asked Kasidee if she would like some too.  She said, "Well, I like them okay but if I was going on a trip and could only take one thing, well, that wouldn't be it."
• The girls were playing "store" and I overheard Kiera tell Kasidee, "The customer is always right, even if they say 9+10 is 21."
• I was talking to the girls about the importance of saving money and how we are saving for when Daddy retires - I stressed to them that we will need to have enough money to live comfortably even when Daddy is not earning money anymore.  Makenna said, "When Daddy grows up, will he not have to go to work anymore?"
• The girls were so excited to set up the small tent and sleep downstairs.  Kasidee used her new mummy sleeping bag.  When I asked her why she didn't have a pillow, she said, "I don't need one.  My zombie bag already has one!"

More Funnies

I know this is all I blog about now, but at least I'm keeping track of the funny things my kids say, right?

• Kiera mentioned that English is her favorite subject in school.  Makenna said, "What is English anyway?  I already speak it good."
• One evening, I told the girls to hop in the car because I was taking them somewhere for a surprise.  All along the way, the girls would ask me questions and I would respond by saying, "Oh, that's a good idea," or "It could be that."  Finally Makenna said in a haunting voice, "You are suspiciously amazing...."
• As I was tucking Kasidee into bed one night, she asked if she could sleep with me in my bed.  I said, "Well, why don't you try to fall asleep and if you can't then you can come in and cuddle with me."  She said, "Okay, I'll count my blinks while I try to fall asleep."
• We were on a hike one day and Makenna spotted lots of cactus.  She asked if she could take a piece of one home.  She said, "Here's a bald one - it won't be prickly!"
• Kasidee spilled something and said, "Ooops - sorry!  That wasn't on mean to!"
• Kasidee calls pine trees "pokey-pines."
• Kasidee asked me to close my eyes then open them fast so she could see my "pimples" get smaller!

Ha Ha Ha

A few more funny things my kids have said:

• Makenna made a little book and the cover (saturated with glue) started bending upwards a bit.  She seemed distraught after all her hard work and asked me what she could do to prevent it from bending.  I suggested she put something heavy on top of it and leave it for awhile to help flatten it out.  She said, "Something heavy?  Like my bum?"
• We were on vacation at Bear Lake when we stopped at a gas station.  As we were walking back to our car, we could hear some "groovy" music playing in someone else's car.  Kasidee looked at Quentin, who was wearing sunglasses and said, "Daddy, your sunglasses go with this music!"
• One day Makenna asked me what exactly is the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan.  After I was done explaining, she said, "Well, are peanuts vegan?"  I said, "Of course they are.  They don't come from animals, do they?"  She replied, "Yes they do - from squirrels."
• Kasidee said, "You don't want to run too fast 'cause then you'll 'huh, huh,, huh' (panting noises)."

Even More Funnies

Okay, so I haven't been the best at posting on my blog lately.  Maybe I'll catch up someday.  But I HAVE been keeping track of the funny things my kids say - and I like to write them on here so I won't forget! 

• Kasidee wanted to save something she was eating so she asked me if I could put some "see-through paper" over her bowl.
• The girls were describing doing something and Makenna said, "I know - I can imagine it.  I just did that thing in my mind!"
• I was trying to explain Daylight Savings time to Kasidee.  She seemed to understand and then asked, "But how do they make it dark?"

More Funnies

We were pretty busy during Christmas Break, but I told the girls that one day could be a "play with friends" day.  Kasidee was excited - and here's the list she wrote and stuck to the refrigerator (she's a list-maker just like her mommy!):
* Get up
* Brush your haer
* Get your close on
* Eat
* Brush your teeth
* Wate inteele 1 be four you call a friend

One day while we were out and about, Kiera saw a truck that had "24-Hour Towing" printed on it.  She said, "24 hour towing?  Really?  That would take a long time!"  I laughed and explained that it didn't mean it took 24 hours to tow your car - it meant that you could call that company anytime of day.  Kiera said, "Oh, okay.  Well, they should change that then!"

When the girls are in the car when Quentin or I have to fill up the gas tank, they have fun doing a guessing game of how much it will cost.  The other night, Quentin was filling up and I heard the girls make their guesses.  Kiera guessed $52, Makenna guessed $62 and Kasidee guessed "50-anything."

After we ate dinner on New Year's Day, Kiera said, "Oh - I forgot!  My New Year's resolution was to try something new for dinner each day.  Oh well, I guess I'll have to try next year."

The other night we were talking about the Tower of Babel and how that is where a lot of the different languages come from.  Makenna said, "Like English, Spanish, Germanish and Italy-ish."

About every week, we have "Clean Out the Fridge" (leftovers) night.  As I was heating up some leftover pasta for Makenna she said, "Make it hot.  Really hot.  Like Olive Garden hot."

Kasidee was drawing a bunch of fruits one day.  She drew some cherries and wrote "Cherry" on the top of the page.  She said, "Is this how you spell cherry?"  I said yes.  She said, "Really?  Is that how you spell it in real life?"

Funnies

• Quentin was trying to persuade Makenna to try some "Tofurky."  He said, "Try some - it doesn't have animal in it."  Makenna scrunched up her nose and said, "It looks like it has animal in it - animal barf!"
• Makenna worked hard on a Christmas story to be included in a classroom storybook.  She typed it up in a fun font and included pictures and a Christmas border.  After she printed it out, she held it up and looked at it with a smile on her face.  She said, "I really professioned it, didn't I?"
• The girls tried out for the school play.  Kasidee was so nervous the morning of the auditions.  She said, "Everyone's going to stare at me like an old chicken patty."

Our puppy!

After years of the girls (mostly Makenna) begging, and Quentin and I debating, we're finally getting a puppy.  Quentin and I both grew up with dogs but as a grown-up, the idea of a puppy just seemed like a lot of work.  But we realize what a neat opportunity it is for kids to have something to love and take care of, and what a blessing a new little life can be in a family. 

 

Ideally, we wanted to "rescue" a dog from a shelter.  But we never found quite what we thought would work for us, and we read a lot of things that made us nervous about shelter dogs.  We also researched different breeds.  I knew I wanted one that didn't shed (poodles, bichon frise, maltese) but Quentin liked the look of a cocker spaniel and loved what he read about cavalier king charles.  Imagine our surprise when we found a "new" breed, the cavachon -  mix between a cavalier king charles and a bichon frise.  So it's a great family dog, smart, and doesn't shed! 

 

We found a breeder in Clinton that was responsible and knowledgeable.  We contacted her last May and she said she had a litter of 7 that we could come and see, but that they were all sold.  She said she would be happy to meet with us and talk about the cavalier king charles (the mother), the bichon frise (the father) and the baby cavachons.  I figured it would be a good idea to get information about 3 breeds that we were interested in. 

 

So we met with her and I was surprised by how I felt.  I usually became overwhelmed when we looked at puppies or dogs and just wanted to bag the whole idea.  But after seeing the cavachon puppies and talking with the breeder, I felt excited and peaceful.  I even started to cry because I was surprised by how I felt!

 

We put a deposit down on the next litter that would be born in the Fall.  We would have first pick, which made us feel relieved.  The last few months have been like waiting for a real baby!  We've all saved up money, purchased supplies, and counted down the days.

 

On November 16, Quincy (the mom) gave birth to 2 little puppies.  Only 2 - her last two litters had 7!  There was a black and white girl and a brown, black and white boy.  So cute!  The breeder said that when Quincy had 7, she would feed the babies then lay outside of the pen so she could still hear them but not be touched.  But with only 2 babies, Quincy will sleep with them and snuggle wth them by her neck - so sweet!

 

We went to see the puppies (and got to see the mom and dad as well) yesterday.  They're 2 weeks old and soooo cute!  We're counting down 6 more weeks till we can bring our sweet puppy home!

Funnies

• Makenna's Primary teacher suggested to the class that one night the kids give a "thankful only" prayer - one in which they only say the things they're grateful for and not ask for anything.  Before Makenna said her personal prayer that night, she struggled and said she wasn't sure how to do it.  I gave her some suggestions, then she quietly said her prayer.  Afterward she said to me, "I only said what I was thankful for but I had to ask for safety and health - because I don't want to get crunched."
• One day we had normal-sized rolls and smaller, "dollar" rolls, which were Kasidee's favorite.  After eating a couple of the smaller rolls, she said, "I want to try a big one so it will take longer."
• Kiera said that sometime she would like to experience what "Black Friday" is all about.  I said, "Oh, don't you remember?  I used to take you to stores on Black Friday, and sometimes I would make you close your eyes because I would put gifts for you in my cart and I didn't want you to see."  Then she said, "Oh, is that why?  I thought you wanted me to close my eyes so I wouldn't see all the crazy people!"  

October and a Funny

Halloween, though my least favorite holiday, was fun.  I think the girls' favorite part was dressing up.  Kiera was an eskimo, Makenna was an Egyptian/Cleopatra, and Kasidee was "a witch...a nice witch."  The girls got to wear their costumes at our annual day at Gardner Village with cousins, at the Halloween party at Quentin's work, and of course when we went trick-or-treating!

 

Last Sunday we woke up to the first snow of the season.  It was beautiful and this picture reminds me of 3 seasons in one picture:  summer leaves on the tree, fall leaves on the ground, and the beautiful winter snow.  The snow melted by the afternoon so I'm glad I snapped this neat picture!

Kasidee told me the other day that when she was in kindergarten, she thought all of the school teachers slept in their classrooms at night.  Then she said, "But now I know where they really sleep - in the teachers' lounge!"

Funny

Kasidee has some funny words for things:

• Perma-nik = permanent
• Granilla = granola
• Fruit cock-a-till = fruit cocktail

She's also having fun reading and spelling things on her own.  She drew a picture of a witch with a word bubble that said, "Mooooo."  I asked her why the witch was saying what a cow would say.  She looked at what she wrote and, pointing to each letter said, "Mwah-ha-ha!"  Makes sense!

Kasidee posted a note on the door from the garage into the house.  It read, "Daddy, there is a spitre in the groj."  (There is a spider in the garage.)

Major Catch-Up

While we were busy having fun this summer, I didn't realize how far behind I got in my blogging.  So here goes - a quick recap of the last few months:

JULY

Well-renowned California artist Karl Johnson visited Utah for a special showing and to do silhouettes.  We had him do the girls' silhouettes, and I'm so glad we did!  Karl has amazing talent, and it was such a neat experience to see him just look at each girl, start cutting with his tiny scissors, and have a perfect image within minutes.  What a keepsake! 

Although we bought our "new" Pilot last August, we couldn't quite let go of our little van.  We didn't drive it anymore but it was hard for us to make that final decision to give it away.  We ended up giving it to Cars That Care, a local company that takes cars, fixes them up, and gives them to low-income and/or single mothers who could use them.  Knowing that our beloved van wouldn't just be smashed to pieces and knowing it would help a good cause helped us - even though it was hard.  That little van had become like a part of our family!

We went camping a couple of times this summer - one of our favorite things to do as a family!

AUGUST

Kiera and Makenna had a gymnastics class, Kasidee had Biddy Ball, and all 3 girls had swimming lessons this summer.

We enjoyed cousin time at Pioneer Village in Lagoon.

Makenna turned 9 and had a puppy adoption birthday party.  It was so fun to plan it with her - and it ended up being a hit!  Each guest adopted a puppy, then they got to go to different stations: Pet Store (they bought puppy chow (or cocoa puffs), a collar and dog tag), Vet (they got to help their dogs get their check-ups), Groomer (they groomed their pets), and Training (they got to help their dogs learn new tricks).  It was a fun party - I can't believe Makenna is 9!

And 2 days later, Kasidee turned 6!  She had a swimming party in our backyard - kiddie pool, slip-n-slide, and sprinklers underneath the trampoline!

For my girls when they turn 6, I give them a book I have written and they draw the pictures.  Kasidee was so excited about her book "Ditto."

More camping adventures!

  

The girls started school.  This has been the hardest year for me by far.  The first year all of my girls are at school all day.  It's been a hard adjustment for me and for Kasidee.  I'm glad I have my preschoolers to bring some happiness and noise to my quiet house - but it's not the same.  I sure miss my girls!

SEPTEMBER

 

The girls had a late night with some neighbors.  After the movie, the older girls had a pillow fight...

OCTOBER - So Far...

Visiting Pack's Pumpkin Patch with cousins.

Eric and Mischelle had a Harry Potter Murder Mystery Party.  So fun!  Quentin was Harry Potter and I was Ginny.

We visited the American West Heritage Center in Logan for their Fall Harvest Festival.  I love that place!  We were there over 5 hours and had tons of fun experiences: rag doll making, candle making, cow milking, making brooms out of sorghum, apple pressing, corn shelling, throwing tomahawks, wagon rides, corn maze, train ride, giant slide, cob of corn slingshot...and yes, we did all of that!

Is Anyone There?

Okay, so I realize I haven't been the best at blogging lately.  I don't really know why I haven't been doing it much, but it's something I still really want to keep up on.  I like to blog as a record for my family, but I'm curious to know if there's anyone out there still checking my blog.  So it's roll call - if you're reading this, please comment so I know if anyone's still listening.  I'll be catching up soon, but until then, here's a funny.

• Makenna wanted to fill up some water balloons and pretend they were her pets.  She announced to her sisters, "Water balloons for sale for free!"  Kasidee said, "I'll give you 50 cents and 10 cents...so here's fifty-ten cents."  Later, when she couldn't find the coins she had put on the counter, Kasidee exclaimed, "I lost my cents!"

Ha!

Okay, either I think my kids are super funny...or I'm just not taking the time to document anything else.  Anyway, here's some more funnies.  My last 3 posts were "Funnies," "More Funnies," and "Even More Funnies."  It was tempting to call this one "Even even more more funnies!"  Well, here you have it!

• Our girls have had a little summer job taking care of our neighbor's garden, watering the lawn, checking the mail, etc. while they have been on vacation.  One day we decided to swing by on our way somewhere else, so we were in the car.  Kiera and Kasidee jumped out to do their job but Makenna decided to stay in the car.  After about a minute Makenna said, "I better go see what they're doing - I know how they handle things!"
• Another time when we were in the car getting ready to run errands, I looked around and said, "Augh - I feel like I'm forgetting something.  What did I forget?"  And Makenna piped up and said, "It seems like I forgot something too.  Oh yes, my dignity!"
• One day I took Kasidee to her friend Libby's house to play.  As we were standing my the front door, Kasidee said to me, "I'm not afraid of Libby's cat anymore.  I want to overfear my scares."
• As Makenna was saying a prayer before dinner one night she said, "Please help us to be protected and nourishmented."
• Kasidee came up to me one day and very seriously said, "I know Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are real, but what about the Sandman and the... nose picker guy... what's his name?  Oh yeah, the Boogeyman."
• Makenna was practicing the hula hoop, and she said, "Mama, do you want to watch me do the Loopty Loop?"
• Kasidee had a stuffy nose one morning.  Pointing to one nostril, she said, "I can't breathe out of this nose [then pointing to the other nostril] or this nose."

Even More Funnies

So I haven't been very good at posting pictures/events lately.  But I'm pretty proud of myself for writing down things my girls say that make me giggle.  One day I'd like to put all of these silly sayings in a book.  Here's some more I'll add:

• After swimming lessons one day, I asked the girls to all get in the tub for a quick bath.  Kiera wanted to take her own shower but I said it would be faster and easier if they all just cram into the tub together.  Kiera said, "There's not enough room for the 3 of us in the tub.  Makenna's toots take up most of the room!"
• When the girls are with me when we go to Target, we like to get their free kid's cookies.  The other day Kiera and Kasidee gobbled theirs up within seconds.  Makenna held onto hers and said, "I'm going to save my cookie for the car.  That way you guys can watch me eat it!"
• Patting her tummy, Makenna said, "I'm feeling a little chunky."  Kasidee said, "Makenna, everybody has flubber."
• Kasidee said, "I saw a mosquito flying around and when I closed my mouth I couldn't see it anymore.  Can you check my teeth and see if there are any tiny legs there?"
• We've been getting invitations ready for Makenna and Kasidee's birthday parties.  Kasidee pointed to the envelopes and said, "When can we invitation them?"

More Funnies

• As a family, we are saving up for our new puppy that we'll be getting around February.  Kasidee asked if we could get 2 puppies.  I told her no, that one is plenty.  She said that 2 puppies would be too much money.  Then she said, "If one dog is $2,000 [which is not even close to how much I would pay for a puppy!] then 2 dogs would be 40 hundred thousand dollars."
• I called the girls inside as they were out riding their bikes.  I said, "It's time to come in - you need to have a bath and then we can do a family movie night."  Makenna said, "I want to do both of those, except the bath."

Funnies

• The girls have had fun playing with their dolls - the other day they planned a birthday party for them.  They told me, "They're turning zero!"
• One day, Kasidee was trying to whistle but for some reason a sound just wouldn't come out.  She exclaimed, "My whistle is out!"
• Kiera said, "Well, that was kind of freaky."  Makenna's eyes widened as she said, "Don't say that word!  It freaks me out!"
• Makenna said out of the blue one day, "I hope when we get our dog it doesn't bum-scootch."
• The other day when we were running a few errands, I told the girls we would go to one store to get something Kiera needed and another store to get something Makenna needed.  After a little bit Kasidee jokingly said as she laughed, "Well, what about me?  Is there candy involved?"

Princess Festival

On Saturday we joined my sister-in-law, my niece, my SIL's mom and niece at Thanksgiving Point for the Princess Festival.  I think this is our third or fourth time going, and it is a fun experience. All proceeds go to a great charity, and the girls get to dress up as princesses and go on "quests" where they interactively participate in princess adventures.  This year was extremely hot so we didn't do as much as we probably would have, but it was fun being there and having the fun experience!

 

 

Perhaps the best part was getting all wet at the end!

 

 

Funnies

• After Kasidee washed her hands at the sink, she couldn't quite reach the faucet to turn it off.  Pointing to the water, she asked, "Can you undo this?"
• Kiera (who will be in sixth grade this Fall) said, "It's weird how the sixth graders are a lot smaller now than when I was in first grade."
• Kasidee saw that I had bought a new bottle of mustard.  She exclaimed, "Ew - why did you get hamburger sauce?"
• The other day, I bought a bunch of fruit to make a fruit salad.  Makenna started licking her lips when she saw it.  I told her that we were going to give some of it to my sister-in-law and her family.  Makenna, who likes to have food all to herself said, "So you mean you got all of this fruit for nothing?"
• The 3 girls have been playing "Princess School" with each other for the last few days.  One of the things they're practicing is poise - and they walk across the room with a book balanced on their heads.  After trying many times and not making it all the way across, Kasidee said, "Okay, I guess I have a slippery head."
• Kasidee told me matter-of-factly the other day, "I'd much rather have sisters than friends."
