Friday was Family Fun Day - which meant everything at the park was free. Which also meant it was crowded. We went with our neighbors, and as soon as we pulled in the parking lot I thought we made a mistake. I thought of suggesting we ditch our original plan and go out to lunch instead. But once we got in and took the train ride up to the top end of the park, the crowds weren't so bad. And about an hour into our visit, the weather became overcast and made it very pleasant. So...our plans to stay an hour or two quickly dissolved and we ended up staying 6 hours! And our kids were happy as clams and could have stayed hours longer - but they all fell asleep in the car on the ride home!
We talked to the banker and the barber/dentist, watched women spin wool into yarn then take the yarn and weave them into blankets, petted horses and baby goats, ate donuts from a string, played carnival games and won prizes, ate lots of popsicles (perhaps something not authentic to pioneer days!), played in the little "village," made clothespin dolls and beaded necklaces and egg carton flowers.... Whew! It was a fun day, and we can't wait to go back for their Christmas festival!
